Most common cause
The result of a numeric operation does not fit in the target field.
Other causes
- Totals accumulated in fields sized for the volumes of years ago.
- Conversion from a larger to a smaller field when calling an API or a procedure.
How to fix it
Make the target field larger. In RPG EVAL(H) rounds the decimals, but does not fix an overflow in the integer part: you need a larger field.
