IBM i errors
- CPF0001 Error found on command A command run through QCMDEXC, or built at run time, has invalid syntax or parameters.
- CPF0864 End of file in a CL program RCVF run after the last record, with no MONMSG to catch end of file.
- CPF1015 Data area not found RTVDTAARA or CHGDTAARA on a data area that is not in the library list. From RPG, IN and OUT on a missing data area give status 00401.
- CPF2103 Library already in the library list ADDLIBLE of a library that is already in the list. Harmless in itself, but without MONMSG it makes the CL fail.
- CPF2105 Object of the given type not found DLTF, DLTPGM or DLTOBJ on an object that is not there: typical of clean-up CL programs that run more than once.
- CPF2110 Library not found The command names a library that does not exist on the system, often because the CL was written for another environment (test or production).
- CPF2182 Not authorized to library The user lacks *EXECUTE (or *USE) authority to the library holding the object.
- CPF2817 Copy command ended because of error CPYF fails, nearly always because source and target layouts differ and FMTOPT was not given.
- CPF3202 File in use A command that needs the file exclusively (DLTF, CHGPF, RNMOBJ, MOVOBJ) finds it open in another job.
- CPF3204 Object needed by the file not found The file depends on another object that cannot be found: typically a logical file whose based-on physical file (PFILE), or its member, is not in the library given or in the library list.
- CPF4101 File not found in library The library holding the file is not in the job's library list. It often happens in batch jobs, which start with the job description's library list rather than the interactive user's.
- CPF4102 File found, member not found The file exists but has no such member: typical of a physical file created with MBR(*NONE), or a logical file created without a member.
- CPF4128 Cannot allocate the file for open Another job holds a lock on the file that conflicts with the open: CLRPFM, RGZPFM, ALCOBJ *EXCL, a save or a CHGPF in progress.
- CPF4131 Level check on the file The file changed (re-created, CHGPF, ALTER TABLE) after the program was compiled: the record format level identifier no longer matches the one stored in the program.
- CPF5026 Duplicate key WRITE or UPDATE with a key that already exists in a file with a unique key.
- CPF5027 Record in use by another job The program reads for update (CHAIN or READ on a file opened for update, without (N)) a record locked by another job, and the lock lasts longer than the record wait time (WAITRCD).
- CPF5029 Data mapping error on the record The record holds invalid decimal data in a packed or zoned field (blanks or x'00'). Typical after a CPYF FMTOPT(*NOCHK) or writes from programs with overlapping data structures.
- CPF502B Error in trigger program The trigger program attached to the file failed, and the I/O operation is cancelled.
- CPF5032 Record already allocated to this job The same job holds the record lock through another open of the file, usually in a program higher up the call stack.
- CPF5813 File already exists CRTPF, CRTLF or CRTSRCPF with the name of a file already in the library.
- CPF7302 File not created Errors in the DDS during CRTPF, CRTLF, CRTDSPF or CRTPRTF.
- CPF9801 Object not found in library The command (often CHKOBJ) does not find the object. In CL it is routine, because CHKOBJ is used precisely to test whether an object exists.
- CPF9802 Not authorized to object The user lacks the authority the operation needs on the object.
- CPF9803 Cannot allocate object Another job holds a lock that conflicts with the requested operation (ALCOBJ, DLTF, CLRPFM).
- CPF9810 Library not found The command receives a library that does not exist. The text is the same as CPF2110: which of the two arrives depends on the command.
- CPF9812 File not found A command that works on files (CLRPFM, DSPFD and others) does not find the file in the given library or in the library list.
- CPF9815 Member not found The member given (CLRPFM, RMVM, OVRDBF with MBR) does not exist in the file.
- CPF9898 Application escape message Not a system error: a program sent SNDPGMMSG MSGID(CPF9898) MSGTYPE(*ESCAPE) with free text.
- CPF9999 Function check An earlier error was not handled and the program stopped. CPF9999 is not the cause: it is the consequence.
- MCH0601 Space offset out of bounds Storage accessed beyond the valid area, usually because a parameter is passed shorter than the callee expects.
- MCH0603 Subscript or substring out of range An array index or substring position out of bounds, at machine level. In RPG it usually shows as RNQ0100 or RNQ0121.
- MCH1202 Decimal data error The program uses a packed or zoned field holding non-numeric bytes: blanks, x'00' or data of another type.
- MCH1210 Receiver value too small The result of a numeric operation does not fit in the target field.
- MCH1211 Divide by zero A division with a divisor equal to zero.
- MCH3402 Object no longer exists The program uses an object (often a file or program) that was deleted while in use.
- MCH3601 Pointer not set Use of a null pointer. In RPG the typical case is a parameter the caller did not pass and the callee uses.
- RNQ0100 Value out of range for string operation %SUBST, %REPLACE or %SCAN with a position or length beyond the size of the string.
- RNQ0102 Divide by zero DIV, %DIV or '/' with a zero divisor.
- RNQ0103 Result does not fit in the field The result of a numeric expression does not fit in the field receiving it.
- RNQ0112 Date, time or timestamp not valid %DATE, %TIME, %TIMESTAMP or MOVE on a value that is not a valid date in the given format. Classic with numeric dates of zero or 99999999.
- RNQ0121 Array index not valid An index lower than 1 or higher than the number of elements in the array.
- RNQ0202 Called program or procedure failed The called program or procedure failed, and the caller did not handle the problem.
- RNQ0211 Error calling program or procedure The called program cannot be found or cannot run, nearly always because it is not in the library list.
- RNQ0222 Pointer or parameter error Use of a parameter that was not passed or of an invalid pointer. At machine level it usually matches MCH3601.
- RNQ0907 Decimal data error (digit or sign not valid) A packed or zoned numeric field holds invalid data. It matches MCH1202.
- RNQ1021 Write of a record that already exists WRITE to a file with a unique key and the key already exists. It is the RPG form of CPF5026. It also applies to a relative record number already used in a subfile.
- RNQ1211 I/O operation on a closed file READ, CHAIN or WRITE on a file declared USROPN that was never opened, or already closed.
- RNQ1216 Error on an implicit open or close Opening the file fails, and the reason is the CPF message named in the text: nearly always CPF4101, CPF4102 or CPF4131. For explicit OPEN and CLOSE the status is 01217.
- RNQ1218 Record already locked The record is locked by another job beyond the wait time. It is the RPG form of CPF5027 or CPF5032.
- RNQ1299 Other I/O error A file error with no status of its own. The reason is in the CPF or CPD message before it in the job log.
