Most common cause
The value assigned has a type that cannot go into that column. Assignments between numbers and characters are allowed (and if the text is not a number the error is -420).
Other causes
- A number assigned to a DATE or TIME column.
- A binary value assigned to a character column, or the reverse.
- Values in the INSERT in a different order from the columns.
How to fix it
Convert the value to the right type (DATE, TIMESTAMP_FORMAT, CAST) and always write the column list.
