Most common cause
The record is locked by another job beyond the wait time. It is the RPG form of CPF5027 or CPF5032.
Other causes
- The lock is held by the same job, through another open of the file.
- A program that reads for update and then goes to a display.
How to fix it
Read with (N) when you do not update, use UNLOCK, handle CHAIN(E) with %STATUS = 01218. The job holding the lock is in the preceding CPF message.
