What it brought

  • PTFs can be ordered and downloaded over the Internet, through a Windows PC connected via TCP/IP
  • Concurrent maintenance of expansion towers: a card can be changed without stopping the system
  • e-Jump: from V3R0.5 or V3R1 to V4R3 in a single step, also to be ready for the year 2000
  • The euro sign: partly in the V4R3 base, the rest through PTFs
  • The last release to run Lotus Domino on the OS/2-based Integrated PC Server
  • Internet Connection Server becomes IBM HTTP Server for AS/400
  • An LDAP directory server in the system, and NetQuestion for full-text search
  • Operations Navigator manages NFS, DCE and LDAP, with a security wizard
  • Operations Console: integrated remote console and control panel
  • AS/400 Developer Kit for Java with JDK 1.1.6
