Most common cause
On IBM i the most frequent cause is invalid decimal data in DDS tables (packed fields with blanks): error type 6. Then division by zero (type 8) and overflow (type 1).
Other causes
- Division by zero in an expression.
- A result exceeding the precision.
- Invalid DBCS or UTF-8 data (type 7).
How to fix it
The message gives the error type, and the job log the row and columns. For bad data fix the records; for division use NULLIF(divisor, 0).
